Xlibris Publishing Copyright infringment, Plagierism

To Whom it may concern: I would like to report a complaint against Xlibris Publishing 1663 Liberty Dr. Bloomington, IN 47403 610-915-5214 In Nov. 2013, I sent a manuscript to Xlibris to be self published. The book had been copyrighted in my name in Aug. 2013. Xlibris sent the manuscript layout back to me to be approved with another person's name as the author! There were also numerous mistakes with lines and words out of place. I cancelled the order and have disputed the charge with my credit card company. Plagierism is illegal. I need to work with a publisher I can trust. The employees at Xlibris I was in contact with were Joseph Martin, Sara Turner and Bernadette Valdez. I noticed several other complaints about Xlibris on google.com, and scambook. Thank you, Rhiannon Arthur mailbox179@yahoo.com mailbox179@localnet.com

You can send a copyright takedown notice to Amazon asking for the book to be removed.

@Anonymous

What is a copyright takedown notice and how can this be done? I have told Amazon to remove an earlier edition published by X-Libris so that the new re-published edition has a chance of being seen!

Amazon tells me this ad cancellation has to be done by X-Libris.

I wrote them explaining just how to do this. So please, tell me more about a takedown notice, and would it effect my newly published title also?

Xlibris Scam

Xlbris is a scam Between my wife and myself, we call these *** 2-3 times daily, to get some sort of refund confirmation...and get passed around from *** to ***, treated rudely, each with less information than the prior. we have pretty much written off the idea of seeing anything (in whole, or in part) of our fraudulently attained payment, I can't believe the people who actually bend over and swallow this ***! How much money do you finally spend to finally? (and I guarantee...don't profit one dime) to see your 'dream' produced in sub-standard quality, with the constant phishing for rubbish upgrades? ...I would guess, either too ashamed, ..too dumb...or just too inexperienced in the publishing world to know the 'real deal' so, 'Step right up folks..I have this bridge..."

They did this to my father and they kept saying they would send him a refund check but they never did but pretended that they did. They blocked his phone number and mine from their office so we couldn't keep asking for his money back and they just kept it for nothing.

Nope they will just keep it for noting and if they do print it it will be full of delibrately placed errors and then they will keep saying you have to pay for each error individually if you want it corrected, then they put it up on Amazon adn if your friends and family buy it they keep all the money and never give you one penny and they put it up for sale all over the web and if anyone buys from the websites they keep every penny. So you are better off if they never even print the thing because it's worse if they do.

And they will tell you that they will give you a refund and then pretend that you must have lost the check they sent you or pretend you are lying and cashed the check when they know they never sent you anything.

Everything they do is scam and lies. Sorry

Xlibris is gross

Xlibris is so gross they steal from old people like they stole from my 87 year old father. They are so gross and I hate them. All the do is lie and steal and they blocked his phone number so he couldn't ring them from his house when they promised him a refund but they never gave him one and they never printed his book they just kept his money for absolutely nothing. If you have a book try and email it to a real publisher like The Wild Rose PRess. You can just go the submission guidelines on their websites and if they like your book they will just do everything and never charge you anything and will legit pay you but if they don't like your book they will say no thanks that is real publishing don't be a wimp and pay thousands just to try and avoid rejection. Otherwise you can make an ebook completely for free on Smashwords and then they sell it on the Barnes and Noble website and only make money by taking a percentage these places are honest and never demand any money out of your pocket.

Xlibris Scam

Xlibris pretended to me that they were a real publishing company when they are not. When we paid the initial fees for publication we specifically asked if there were any "hidden costs" for shipping and such of books that were included in my package. I was told there were no other charges. When I didn't receive the books that were included in the company's purchased package we were told to pay the shipping. They make lousy books with curling covers then they ripped my company off. They rip you off any way that they can and when you question this they just write off your concerns and say that there is nothing that can be done to correct the problem.

i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION AND HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE.

Anonymous

I wonder why people don't collect all of these complaints, contact the people who made them and begin a class action law suit. The first thing an attorney will do is send a "Demand Letter" to xLibris which demands a response to a list of very specfic questions.

This letter usually preceeds a lawsuit. Another route would be to submit a compilation of this complaint data to the attorney general in the state that xLibris claims to have its publishing offices. Its my guess that xLibris is an off shore company with nothing more than a front company in the US. The best advice I can offer is do not let the excitment of publishing you first book override your common sense.

Better to go with an established company like Addison Wesley, Prentice Hall, and so on.

These companies are honest, and do a remarkable job of marketing. Neither of these attributes are true in the self publishing industry.

Xlibris they are awful.

My mother purchased a publishing package worth $5000.00, it had all the bells and whistles. The sales rep kept praising her before we paid the money. My mother and I didn't know that real publishers paid authors and didn't take money off them. I didn't know it wasn't real publishing, but a fake vanity scam. I told all my friends and family they passed on that my mother wrote a book. I even purchased an e-book myself. She was supposed to have received royalty payments, she received one for $6.00 only. I called Xlibris several times, each time I got a person on the other line who promised to fix things for her, but nothing even happened. She had many call backs from Xlibris trying to sell her more of their packages, I told her to refuse to buy anything else until we found out were her royalty earnings went from friends and family that had copies of the book. But she never got any more money after the $6.

Iagree with you I started in March of this year and have still to get the book published. Put offs and stalling the biggest thing.

They stated they would give me choices there has been none. They said that I was in control of how my book looked and nothing but promises and words but no actions. They wrote the first editing it was written the way they wanted it. They did not even put pictures with the correct stories.

They did not ask my opinions about anything then tried to tell me I had to pay 300.00 for the changes. I rewrote the manuscript pictures and put them in the way I wanted sent it in and waited 24-48-72 and nothing so now it has been a week I am going to the supervisor above the supervisor.
