They conned me every step of the way. I was new to publishing and they claimed to be experts with my best interest in view. They shot down every rational argument I gave to their salesmanship with pure lies. They asked me to bulk print, I said who would buy, They...

Xlibris - Book Publishing Review from Melbourne, Victoria
Well, I can now say, without a doubt, that Xlibris is not only the least professional publisher I have dealt with but they are also bald-faced liars. After speaking with a fast-talking "consultant" of theirs (who employed the obvious rapport building salesman's tactic of repeating the customers name as often as possible) they, at first, refused to name a single author that they have published in the last year, but when they finally acquiesced to my question they proceeded to inform me that they not only published J.K Rowling's first book, but also Stephen Kings later books. They explained that, due to their non-exclusivity clause in their contract, when their works went to other publishers, their names were taken off of the publication histories. Now, let's just take that all in for a moment and see if you came to the same conclusion that I did. That Xlibris are simply out for your money and do not care about any thing but; they will resort to blatant lies and sales tactics, completely disregarding any sense for any potential author or the integrity of their work, and are focused on nothing more than closing a sale. That experience, in addition to reading some of the other things I have read here, was enough to tell me that telling them to take a hike was probably the best thing I could have done, and informing others would be the best service I could proffer to any fellow writer. Personally, I hope they go out of business.

Xlibris review: Review from Melbourne, Victoria County
Try hard salesperson from Phillipine call centre persistently urged money be forwarded to Xlibris immediately. No go there. Alarm bells started ringing in my head straight away. A money making SCAM owned by CROOKS to make them rich from others hard work.

Xlibris trying to blackmail me for postage costs
after 9 exhaustive months after finalising and many cases of lost manuscript including 50 lost pages suddenly where I could prove time and time again I had sent it (including a bare faced lie of not having being sent some content and I proved I had sent it to the liar)I received my s authors copies of expect the unexpected I authorised print of my"complimentary copies" lo and behold they now want me to pay for a postage of $260 for 160 books across town. (Melbourne) I got a quote for $60 to get them delivered and even offered to pay it in order to have a book launch pre xmas. no even on that.this is nothing short of blackmail /I am entitled to these copies and nowhere have I signed a clause that says I should pay for it. it always seems that xlibris is working against authors not with them. I expect an attempt to rip off royalties from the agreed 50/50 split for all on line orders. my only other option is to take my book to another publisher and wipe off the$7500 as a sunken cost and/or a lesson learnt

Have a look at what Wikipedia has to say about Xlibris. Whatever your gripe is about the company I don`t think it counts for much.
Maybe you have an ego problem?
I am a first time author of 87 years of age. I found Xlibris to be over helpful due to their obvious desire to make things easy for me.
Each stage of the process of getting my first book onto the market, was handled by a separate, well-trained, operator. I signed the agreement on 27th July and my book is now out there.
You can buy a copy from Amazon, "The cost of a Sparrow" by Eric Watson. You`ll get no complaints from me and I have two more books ready to go their way.
I am the author of a book published by Xlibris. My book was placed on Amazon by Xlibris who authorized Amazon to show practically the entire book leaving nothing that would entice someone to purchase my book.
The services they 'hard sold me on' were little more than money making gimmicks. I would strongly advise any future authors to look elsewhere to get your book published as Xlibris, in my experience, is unprofessional, lousy at customer service and are not worth the money you pay.
