September 24, 2018 I thought I found the IDEAL Book Publishing Company. So...built on trust...I submitted 14 childrens books in 2014. Its been 4 years now. As far as Royalties...in 4 years...(I'm going to take a wild guess here), I may have teceived a total of $20 to...

I'm definitely not sure of I even want to use self publishing now after seeing all these rough experiences here and on good reads. Is there a way to do it all yourself without a publishing company?

Is rather get everything I work for. This sounds way too sketchy.

I don't feel as if they fulfilled the contract and the only tine they call me is to try and get more money from me. I hace to pay for copies of my own book and I never saw my book on Amazon or Xlibris.com as stated in the contract.

I recently received many calls from one of their agents. I'm not going to lie, I was really excited. He lowered the package price and even boasted about books turned into cartoons. He said that that was where xlibris could take me. I was feeling a bit pressured because...

Those people are not "agents" Agents don't charge authors up front, they only take a cut from royalties when the book is selling.

They are *** artists calling themselves agents when all they are is commision sales reps, selling worthless packages to wannabes, and telling lies to get their COMMISSION cause fi they can't get money out of your somehow they won't be paid and could lose their job, which is just being sales rep and tryng to scam.

Xlibris review in Katy, Texas: Just made 1st initial payment

I haven't signed the Services Agreement yet but made a first payment. That is all that has happened so far. The salesman has been very friendly, very persistent and very encouraging, spending quite a bit of time on the phone with me. After reading such horrible reviews, I'm horrified! Has anyone been able to get his/her money back...? I am on a very limited budget and cannot afford a scam. I feel horrible now that I've read the reviews but thank you all so much for sharing your experiences. Hopefully your comments and stories will help unsuspecting writers make it through such experiences, or hopefully help them avoid such mistakes altogether.

I have published two books with Xlibris. I have also order copies of my books to sell locally.

I have not made a lot of royalties ( aprx.

$24.00) to be exact that but other than that. I have no complaints at this time.

No Xlibris will only pretend to give refunds, but they will NEVER actually give them. They will tell you the cheque must have been lost in the mail, or you must have lost it yourself because they claim they sent it.

That's what they did to my Dad. They just keep saying they'd have to "look into" what happened to the check. I knew they were lying and would never send the check, and two years later they never did. They accused my Dad of losing it.

They know they are just scamming and they have it down to a science because they are linked to the Mafia. It's organized crime/fraud.

There is no need to be scammed by this scam company and it's brother scam companies (iuiverse etc...etc...) you can now self publish for free on Smashwords.

Xlibris is a scam. When we tried to get my father's money back they just kept lying that they had sent a check and he must have lost the check. They never even printed out his book they just kept $3999 for absolutely nothing!

Xlibris

I know the reason there are so many people who say they never got any royalties from Xlibris. They say on their website that they give 25% of retail price for royalties, but they make the retail price high - $19.95 for paperback and $29.99 for hardback. There are very few people who are going to buy a book from a new author for that price. If the price is lowered by a dollar, the royalties are lowered a dollar, so that a 15.95 book is a dollar in royalties and anything under that is zero. The 25% is not for whatever the book sells for, it is strictly for the top price of 19.99 and 29.99. If I had known this from the start I would never have signed with them. I've contacted the BBB and they are checking into it, and I've contacted the attorney general in Indiana and the consumer protection agency. If everyone did this, we might get our money back. Author Solutions is the parent company and they are in Indiana.

That's because Xlibris has no interest in selling books. They don't employ anyone to keep track of sales.

Their business model only involves scamming wannabe authors for packages and promotion. THe books mean nothing to them. However there are a lot of people that are complaining they haven't even received the pennies they should have got from friends and family having purchased the book on Amazon and customers who buy from the Xlibris site itself complain they never get sent anything from these thieves.

Also the 25% is undefined net so that means Xlibris can claim anything they want as the cost of production and deduct it all from any meager royalties people might have got.

That's what undefined net does. Bottom line they aren't going to spend money employing people to keep track of royalties because selling books is not their business.

Xlibris review in San Antonio, Texas: Ripoff Company

This Filipino based Company is made of thieves and charlatans. Unless one is desperate to publish a book, then my advice is that stay clear of these thieves who will do anything for a dime. If they owe money, they will lie about refund and *** more lies to the original lie, with hope that the person who is demanding money from them will give up. One department of the company has difficulty connecting with another department of the same company. Please people, shop your book around to other American based publishers, who understand the business ethic and are honest with their word, as it is your work. Do not let these thieves and charlatans deceive you about publishing a book on your behalf.
