I decided to write my first book and have Xlibris publish it. The book is very good and had a few typo's in it so I sent the corrections to Xlibris and they said they would do it. I had them publish it and as soon as I read it I noticed they sent the wrong copy and...

Yes. I have issues with the company too.

I'm Ryan Martin who wrote The Regret of Silence. You probably don't know that because of Xlibris. I went with a new company for my next book. But you are not alone with these problems.

My hope is that as I develop a bigger and well known name and become a famous Author, to use my voice and hopefully have Xlibris shut down.

Us Authors work hard and deserve to be treated. So if any other Author has a strong voice, please do the same in order to save those future Authors from making the same mistake as us and choosing Xlibris.

Xlibris isn't truthful or straightforward in what they advertise and in what they tell you as an author. They are made up of smooth-talking employees who do their very best in persuading people to sign on as an author. I signed a contract/agreement-open-end...

Comment is funny jellybean since all your lowest sales packages don't include editing at the Xilbris scam and then you deliberately put errors in the book so you can demand payment to fix each one, and get people in the Philippines who can't speak English to perform the "editing" you charge for, so that they mix up "he" and "she" all through the book because English isn't their first language. Xilbirs scam sales rep jellybean

I have also a very bad experience with this company. My book was published in 2015.

I had over 14.000 followers on Google. I see my book sold on Amazon and even in China. Some of my friends bought the book. I have written complaints by emails, I had a conversation with different people from this company, all over the world, but I could never get a straight answer.

They told me to go on my site at the Authors House to see how much royalties I have. I went there, signed my name, I was accepted, but when I typed the name of my book, it was unknown. Since my book was published, I never received any royalties. I could never be told how many books were sold.

I am worried about the taxation on this book and where the money went from the website they had done for me where people could buy the book. I know people bought from this site, but I would like to know where the money went. This experience affected my health, I nearly had a nervous breakdown.

I had nightmares about it. Now, I think I am going to put this behind me and hopefully we all will have some help as it is not fair to be treated like this.

I published a book with Xlibris, paid in full, the book was available on Amazon before the editing was over! They delivered my free books tome, these had someone else's book inside of my cover. Xlibris refused to refund and took a long time to re-deliver books....

Xlibris farms the work out overseas to underpaid workers who don't have a command of the English language. They are notorious for putting your name on other authors books, postcards, bookmarks, posters, Amazon, Press releases, etc.

After you pay them thousands to do what the solicitors promise, you're screwed. It's worse then the ponzi scheme. They belong in jail. I want to se them taken down on CNN, along with, Author Solutions and the new member of their illgal family, Penguin.

Self pubkishing is the latest scam field and they are making a lot of money on authors who believe what they are told until their money is gone and nothing worth a cent is delivered. Unprofessional workmanship, lies, buck passing, a ton o reps who disappear after the sale is made and more lies. Don't even get me started on their royalty protocol.

Call your newpaper and tell them what a hot story this is. Maybe one day we all will see them in court.

I have just published my first book through Xlibris and I want to say, that over all I am very happy with the service I received. The company have fulfilled their side of the agreement. I received my editing service, my 40 paperbacks and my 20 hardbacks and the quality of the books is good, the Ebook version is also good. My book is for sale on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and of course Xlibris. I have a webpage under the name of my choice and I also received promotional material such as bookmarks and posters and the quality of these items is also good.

The company also undertook an email campaign to promote the book but I must say, I consider it to be my job to promote my work and so I expect very little reaction from this. Before submitting my work to Xlibris I enquired about having it independantly edited and the quotes I received amounted to more than the whole package Xlibris offered me.

As far as I'm concerned I now have a product I can market, something I can show to publishers which will hopefully get me a deal for the next book and that, at a price which I would've paid to have 110,000 words edited.

How things are going to turn out with royalties I have no idea... that is in the future.

In closing I just want to say we are trying to break into a difficult market place full of talented people, the words struggling author come to mind, and unfortunately that is what most of us will be doing for a long time.

Writing is not a get rich quick scheme... it's hard, but very enjoyable work.

Xlibris-Offshore Scam

Naively paid Xlibris over $9,000.00 for various publish-on-demand services that they did not deliver. Very secretive organization with many questions unanswered. Their storefront is Bloomington Indiana, but they are all in Cebu Phillipines with no intention of delivering customer service. Notice their call hours are at odd times of the day. I could have published for less than $1,000.00 elsewhere for the same services. They still owe me over $1,000 in unpaid royalties and launched e-mail campaigns advertising themselves and not my book at my expense. None of my complaints were ever taken seriously.

I understand your issues about this publisher. I too have had issues with them and the premium package I bought.

The professional editing was fine, but when I submitted the necessary changes, they were somehow ignored and the book for "Dhampir Chronicles: The Awakening" went into print. I had no idea of the mistakes in the book until a few readers were able to contact me. I was shocked and upset because my reputation as a self-publisher takes on a darker cloud. When I asked for my artwork and the e-book format to be returned, I was told the artwork on CD had been lost, but did get it back several weeks later.

The e-book format received would not allow me to make the necessary corrections, so now I am in the process of rewriting the entire PUB format into word. I would not recommend this publisher at all for authors trying to get their work out in the marketplace......

I know how you feel was fooled to believe that the package they offered me was giving me my money's worth when in return it didnt. purchased the basic package at a discount but I was to receive 5 free books, 5 posters, 50 business cards, and 50 postcards. received none of this and was told by my rep that it was not included in my package, to the say the least so upset with this company will never do it again with this company.
