My mother published her book with Xlibris. Her book was professionally edited and had received several great reviews, among them from Andy Rooney.

When she first published, before Xlibris was bought by Author Solutions, she would get some royalties (like $10) She never received an accounting of how many books were sold or the amount of money she actually made. After Author Solutions bought the company, she received one check for $2. Numerous people have bought the book since then and my mother still receives requests for it. Just recently I found it is not even being offered as new anymore on Amazon.

Be aware--if you use this or any of Author Solution companies, expect to be disappointed and angry. This company is not to be trusted--do not use for any reason or any of Author Solutions companies.

Reason of review: Order processing issue.

Xlibris Cons: Unprofessional tatics, Poor quality product, Deception, No accountability.

Location: Glendale, California

Another thing that bothers me is when they exploit all their Filipino female operators which in some range make around $3 for twelve hours of work at a giant Call Center. I don’t know for sure the exact hourly rate, but what I read online corporations take advantage of third world countries with meager wages by paying them less than even McDonald workers and other public franchises in the US who make minimum payments. To clarify this, I’ll speculate that the destitute latter in the Philippines shall have to work a whole year to match what American minorities make in less than three months.

I recently came to find out about how Xlibris treats their author support team, which is nothing other than as a bunch of "slaves" to the market. I might quote some of their words: Their market is mainly the US, they get 100+ leads per day for the US alone, and they want you to know that they’re following what the big bosses in their central office in IN US Headquarters. Their publishing and marketing consultants have to hit quotas of $15000 monthly sales for them to remain in the company. Book consultants aren't subjected to any quotas supposedly, but as for Publishing and Marketing consultants, it's a different story.

Failure to meet such demanded quota would mean resorting to management to report them to Human Resources, instead of their manager for their immediate dismissals as in FIRED. That’s how tough life is hard for them.Again, for publisher Consultants and telemarketers, they’re salaried $500 monthly, and each sale above the required range of their quota equals a 10% commission their part. Also, their last contact date with the author should be within 30 days or else, that author will be moved on to someone else. She also reiterated that Book consultants do not need any previous contact date, and for their pitch calls like on how they attempt to SCAM the authors of their services.A Quality Assurance team is eavesdropping in US headquarters, if there is one misinformation or set up wrong, that'll be expectations is equivalent to a DING the telephone rings again for that particular employee to be terminated, which signifies $50 drop from their $500 monthly salary.

So, the blame shouldn't fall on them, because they don’t lie.OK, they may tell you half the truth, but it's not a complete lie, so the primary liability should go to their big shot bosses in America.A lot of times that they receive grievances from the authors, not being compensated for their royalties even though they do cater to these anxieties. If sternly ask the novelists of their basis as to why would there be a need of a dispute on their claimed royalties, document or proof, trouble knock from their bosses even if it means so that they may ask for some inquiries about it? And damn another $50 decrease is on the way from their salaries who are listening in Bloomington, USA.They’re salaried at $200 monthly, no quotas and for every concern unattended within 48 hours. DING $10 deduction according to one of their Filipino hard working. They never prioritize refunds because the full amount would be removed out from their salary, they have lots of friends receiving $0.00 on their payday.

Upon the excess of their quota, they receive 10%, but if it’s a refund, they shoulder 100% of it. Sometimes a full $100 deduction from their monthly paychecks that’s almost half of their salary. She even spent 15000 on her own company Xlibris and she only earned $2.00 for royalty and her friends told her that they bought her book and that they like it, so she now plans to report Xlibris to BBB.

I feel at ease knowing that, at least a partial sum from the $25,000 Xlibris shawled away from me will come in handy to pay their meager salaries except that most of it will, unfortunately, go to the corrupt execs. How sad!
